Researchers affiliated with the GIFT Program have contributed to a new publication in The Lancet’s leading journal, The Lancet HIV, addressing the impact of evolving drug policy environments on HIV and hepatitis C prevention and treatment efforts.
The article, titled “Drug policy changes threaten HIV and HCV control in Georgia”, examines how shifts in drug policy can influence access to harm reduction services, continuity of care, and broader public health outcomes for vulnerable populations. The publication emphasises the importance of evidence-based policy approaches and sustained international collaboration in protecting progress achieved in HIV and HCV response efforts globally.
The publication reflects the growing contribution of Georgian researchers to the field of implementation science and global health. Through partnerships between Ilia State University and Yale University, the GIFT Program continues to strengthen local research capacity and support high-impact scientific collaboration.
